Speaking of Tsukiji, seafood gourmet is the name of the seagen! The first place we want to introduce is seagen.
They use fish from Yamayuki, a renowned intermediary dealer favored by many top sushi spots. Here, you can enjoy high-quality tuna at a reasonable price, making it a popular spot in Tsukiji’s outer market.

On the day I visited, we arrived 15 minutes before opening, and there was already a line. We joined the end of the queue and got in about 30 minutes later. The presence of many foreign tourists clearly shows the restaurant’s popularity.

Ultimate SeaGen Tuna Bowl: ¥4,000 (tax included)
This popular dish lets you enjoy three different cuts of tuna.
It comes with yamato-yam puree and a small side dish (on this day, simmered tuna with daikon).

It’s delicious whether you eat it as is or wrap it in seaweed to savor every bite.
It’s a dish that makes the eating process itself enjoyable.

Additionally, there’s a menu item that’s so popular it might be unavailable even if you wait: the Seasonal Tuna Marinade Bowl for ¥1,200 (tax included). There are a total of five dishes to choose from. All dishes come with “Tuna Collagen Soup,” adding to their appeal.

The rice served with the seafood is well-textured and memorable. Even if you have to wait in line, the deliciousness is well worth it.

Next, head to Tsukiji Sakino-ya for some uniquely Tsukiji sweets.
This place is famous for its “Tuna Yaki,” a crispy pastry filled with cream. They also serve:

Tuna Yaki: ¥280 (tax included) – Filled with sweet red bean paste made from Tokachi adzuki beans.
Cream Soda: ¥600 (tax included) – A drink with a piece of Tuna Yaki floating in it.

All of these items are “Instagrammable” sweets that perfectly capture the essence of Tsukiji!
There are also benches outside the store, making it the perfect spot for a quick break.

Moving from Tsukiji Outer Market to Kabukiza, you’ll notice a dramatic change in the atmosphere after just a 10-minute walk. Now, let us introduce the “Hitomaku Miseiki” at Kabukiza.

Hitomaku Miseiki is a system that allows you to enjoy your favorite kabuki scenes at an affordable price. Unlike regular kabuki performances, which typically include 3-4 acts and last about 4 hours, Hitomaku Miseiki offers a shorter and more accessible experience.

You can purchase tickets on the day of the performance at the “Hitomaku Miseiki” ticket booth located on the left side of the main entrance.

Same-day tickets are available for free seating and are sold daily from 10:00 AM. Online, you can buy reserved seats starting from 12:00 PM the day before. While there are only 20 free seats available, there are 70 reserved seats, making them easier to obtain. If you have a set schedule, purchasing online in advance is a more reliable option.

Ticket prices vary by performance, but you can watch one act for between ¥500 and ¥1,800, making it a great option for newcomers!

If you have free time before or after the performance, we recommend shopping on the second basement floor. At “Kobikicho Plaza,” a festive atmosphere with a variety of stores, you can purchase Kabuki-za related goods, Japanese accessories, confectioneries, and other goods.

Kabuki-age” (Kabuki fried rice), 500 yen (including tax) and up, is said to have been named in order to pass on to future generations the traditional performing art of Kabuki and the rice crackers that have been popular for centuries (*). Seeing it at the Kabuki-za Theater makes you feel somewhat deeply moved.

The “Wappen” for ¥390 (including tax), which features a traditional Kabuki motif, is steadily gaining popularity among Generation Z.

The “Communication Fan – Large” for ¥660 (including tax), which can be sent through the mail in an envelope, is a favorite among international tourists. Both items showcase vibrant, Japanese-inspired designs that are sure to catch the eye.

It’s finally time for the performance! Return to the main entrance from B2, and head to the entrance on the left side to reach the 4th floor “Ichimaku-mise seats.

At the 4th-floor ticket office (Ichimaku-mise lobby), you can rent an earphone guide for ¥500 (including tax) or a simplified English audio guide for ¥800 (including tax, cash only). The guide will help you understand the story more clearly and enhance your emotional connection to the performance.

The photo shows the view of the stage from the 4th floor. While only a portion of the hanamichi (flower path) is visible from this vantage point, you can comfortably enjoy the approximately 120-minute performance. The beautiful sounds of nagauta music, shamisen, and the accompanying music are clearly audible, allowing you to fully appreciate your first Kabuki experience. The “Ichimaku-mise seats” are highly recommended for beginners.

After enjoying a Kabuki performance, we went to the “Kabukiza Gallery Corridor” on the 5th floor of the Kabukiza Tower. The “Rooftop Garden,” which is open for free, and the “Goemon Stairs” are a must-visit. You can spend a relaxing moment while gazing at the natural surroundings in the gap between the buildings.

Explore the grand tile roof of Kabukiza!

One of the highlights of this gallery is the opportunity to view the grand tile roof of Kabukiza up close. While descending the strikingly red “Goemon Stairs,” be sure to pay attention to the “Phoenix Crest Tiles” on the landing.

On the tiles with the Phoenix crest pattern, the seventh tile from the right (which is the second tile from the right in this photo) is unique because it features an “upside-down phoenix” with a different orientation. There is also a jinxthat finding this particular crest will bring you happiness. Please take a closer look!

At the “Fourth Floor Corridor ~ Kabukiza of Memories ~” exhibit, you can see models of past Kabukiza theaters and stage photographs of late actors. The photo shows “Kokyoji’s Battle” from the third phase (1924–1945) of Kabukiza, a work by stained glass artist Sanchi Ogawa, who was active from the Taisho era to the early Showa period.

This floor also features a section of the carpet sample used in the current fifth-phase Kabukiza theater lobby. It’s a valuable experience that traces the history of Kabukiza from the Meiji era to the present from various perspectives.
